Just next to Biarritz, the Golf d’Arcangues is located in a wonderful setting around Arcangues village, and offers a great variety of rounds. At the golf club, the Club House, set in a traditional Basque house, hosts reception and the pro shop, in which you will find everything a golfer needs. Within the house, the restaurant and its terrace with view on the Pyrenees will delight you with its refined traditional dishes.

History of the Golf

The Golf d'Arcangues was created in the 1990's by the brothers Guy and Jean d'Arcangues and drawn by an American architect Ronald Fream. It is part of the second generation courses on the Basque coast.

Family property since 1150, the brother Guy and Jean d’Arcangues decided to transform a few agricultural acres into a golf course. Guy, the talented artist, was one of the essential people to know among the Basque gentry. High level golfer, he was part of the French amateur team. Jean, the builder, was the active visionary that gave faith and reassured. Those two birds of a feather shared and invented, guided by the family spirit.

At the end of the eighties, driven by the enthusiasm and passion of a sport, they started creating the golf, and nothing was to stop them. Quality of the modelling of the golf course, proximity of communication axes and of Biarritz’ surroundings and coast, exceptional landmark at the heart of the Basque Country. The Golf d’Arcangues has many assets!

With the friendly and professional involvement of Olivier L’Eglise, and supervised by Arnaud and Avelino d’Arcangues, some of the most marked hilly features are reduced to facilitate the round without hindering it. The result is a rolling course, fun and accurate.

Predilection place of professional golfers, a short game centre sees light in 2011. Players like Grégory Bourdy, Romain Wattel, Edourad Espana and Benjamin Hébert can often be seen there, under the watchful eye of their coach.

The Golf d’Arcangues is now a homogeneous site in a preserved environment with a warm and friendly atmosphere.
